BLUEGRASS IN GALAX "Bluegrass in Galax" is a website that is dedicated to promoting bluegrass music in the region since 1996. This site contains links to various bluegrass sites and events in our area.

BLUE RIDGE MUSIC CENTER The Blue Ridge Music Center is located near mile post 213 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Center has a state of the art outdoor amphitheather with seating for 2,000 people, picnic facilities, a luthier shop, and visitor parking. The National Council for the Traditional Arts operates the music center in cooperation with the National Park Service. From June to September, the center hosts weekly concerts by local and nationally known traditional musicians.

Fairview Ruritan ClubThe Fairview Ruritan Club is a civic service organization whose purpose is to create a better understanding between people and through volunteer community service, make their area a better place to live and work. Galax's OLD TIME ANNUAL FIDDLERS CONVENTION This web site is the home of the World's oldest and largest Old Fiddler's Convention! Before the second weekend in August each year, lovers of country and mountain music leave their homes in time to be in Galax, VA for Convention which is held in Felts Park!

THE CROOKED ROAD : Virginia's Heritage Music Trail
“The Crooked Road” is Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail, a driving route through the Appalachian Mountains from the western slopes of the Blue Ridge to the Coalfields region of the state. The trail connects major heritage music venues in the Appalachian region such as the Blue Ridge Music Center, Birthplace of Country Music Alliance, and the Carter Family Fold. "The Crooked Road": Virginia's Heritage Music Trail was formed to generate tourism and economic development to the Southwest region of Virginia by spotlighting the region's unique musical heritage through a driving route in the region.

THE REED ISLAND ROUNDERS "The Reed Island Rounds" have been playing together since 1993! The members consist Billy Cornette, Betty Vornbrock, and Diane Jones. The Rounders are known for their variety of music. From the foot-stomping dance tunes of the Blue Ridge to romantic waltzes, and beyond to the dark and lonesome mountain tunes of a solo fiddle or duet with the banjo, or a chilling ballad, they evoke the soul of Appalachian life

THE REX THEATER The "Rex Theater", newly renovated, is located in the heart of downtown Galax. Every Friday night throughout the year the Rex Theater hosts the "Blue Ridge Backroads Live"--a unique weekly radio show featuring the Old Time & Bluegrass bands from throughout the region.
